Styling with Warm Tones: Maroon & Mustard
Words by Hanaa Mehboob
Earthy tones like maroon, terracotta, and mustard can feel heavy if not balanced correctly. The key is to use them as grounding elements within a light, airy foundation. Start with cream or off-white walls and large furniture pieces. Then, introduce color through textiles—a block-printed throw draped over a chair, or a tufted lumbar pillow on the bed. These warm accents draw the eye and create cozy vignettes without shrinking the space. Remember, handmade textiles bring texture, which softens bold colors and makes them feel organic and lived-in.
