The Art of Block Printing: A Journey to Jaipur
Words by Hanaa Mehboob
Block printing is more than a technique; it's a rhythm. In the workshops of Jaipur, the steady 'thwack' of wooden blocks hitting fabric is the heartbeat of the community. We recently visited our partner artisans to see the creation of our new terracotta collection.
Each block is carved by hand from teak wood, a process that takes days of meticulous work. The dyes are mixed using natural ingredients, and the fabric is stamped repeatedly with incredible precision. It's a slow craft that demands patience, but the resulting imperfections are what make each piece truly alive.
